Mr. Alan Lau

Mr Lau is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co, and the Greater China Head for its Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT) Practice. He has been advising media and Internet companies, telecom operators and consumer electronics makers on strategy, finance, marketing and organization transformations since the late 1990s. He has worked across the media space, advising TV broadcasters, cable operators, movie studios and print/music publishers in Asia. On the digital side, he began working in the Internet space in China since the first days of the Internet boom in 1999, and advised Internet leaders in M&A, post-merger integration, operation improvement, new business partnerships, and targeted marketing via advanced analytics.

Dr. Charm was the former Regional Head, Business Intelligence Competency Centre, Asia Pacific, HSBC; the former Associate Partner, Greater China, IBM Global Business Services; and former General Manager, Business Intelligence, Greater China, Oracle Corporation. Apart from providing strategy and business analytics consulting and executive training to major clients and partners in Greater China, Dr. Charm provides advisory services to Big Data and BI start-ups in the region on strategic direction, management and funds sourcing.

Voted Bank Risk Manager of the Year 2011 by Asia Risk Magazine for leading Bank of China Hong Kong (BOCHK) Group in the successful FIRB accreditation with HKMA, the first ever IRB accreditation for a China-based bank in the world. Edwin was also the Chairman of the Basel Implementation Committee of the Hong Kong Bankers Association in 2011. Before his retirement in Jan, 2014, Edwin headed the Basel Implementation Office in BOCHK Group and was responsible for the development and implementation of the overall Basel Program for retail banking, corporate banking, and RWA calculation engine for the BOCHK Group consisting of four banks and BOC Credit Card International. He joined BOCHK in May 2007 and completed the IRB development in a short span of 18 months, and after complying with the regulatory requirement for a two-year model use test, secured the HKMA accreditation on January 1, 2011. He further led the Bank Group in the AIRB development and implementation during 2011 for the corporate, FI and sovereign portfolios.

She has over 15 years of Analytics and Database Marketing experience in leading financial institutions and multiple markets. She specializes in utilizing analytics tools to guide the formulation of marketing plans and optimize business strategies, introducing a discipline of scientific and fact-based decision making process across the company, and with strong experience in executing direct marketing, portfolio management and cross-sell campaigns. Prior to China Construction Bank (Asia), Minda was with American International Group and has held various positions in AIG Consumer Finance Group and AIA.

James worked for NatWest Bank in the UK for 11 years where he held a variety of positions in Retail and Corporate banking. As well as business focused roles in Branch Banking, Risk and Relationship Management, he moved into analytical functions within Corporate Banking, and finally into the Corporate Banking Data Warehousing team, where he played a key role in the development of a new Data Warehouse, and led the team delivering user support and data warehouse application development. On joining Teradata in 1999 James worked initially as a Finance Industry Consultant in Teradata's UK team, and then moved to the EMEA team in 2005. During his time at Teradata James has engaged with a range of banks across EMEA, both on a pre-sales and project implementation basis, focusing particularly on the Finance, Customer Value and Risk Management (including Basel II & III) subject areas.
