10.20 - 10.50 Keynote 1: Software-Defined Data Center - Infrastructure for the Next Generation of IT

When server virtualization first came to market, few understood the implications of its disruptive nature. Now, with tens of billions of dollars in customer savings achieved, and over 80 percent of all workloads virtualized, it’s clear server virtualization has fundamentally changed the way the IT operates, and in turn, transformed our industry. Network Virtualization promises the same transformative impact to change data center economics.

To date, the network virtualization conversation has focused on well-documented and customer-proven benefits of agility, flexibility and cost improvements. This is the story of the last few years. In this session, we will outline the next horizon for network virtualization, detailing how network virtualization will enable advanced capabilities such as network visibility and troubleshooting, security and network-wide policy. Attendees will leave with the knowledge and understanding of how this next chapter in the evolution of virtualization technology will unfold.

Mr. Toon-Chwee Wee
Senior Manager, Systems Engineering
VMware Hong Kong

10.50 - 11.20 Keynote 2: Do Your IT have the Visibility on New Cloud, Data Center Operation?

IT doesn't define your company's technology strategy anymore - your consumers do. They want to connect with brands from any device, anywhere and they want their experience to be simple, relevant and immediate. This poses a big challenge for companies and IT to ensure these critical assets and Next Generation Data-Centres can deliver to the expectation of the business and end users alike. Companies need a New Generation end-to-end strategy for technology performance. This means that IT (and the CIO) will need to make big changes in order to bring digital business success. This presentation explores this environment and the challenges and opportunities it presents for IT and provides some global best practises for managing the new highly complex and interconnected Data-Centre.

Keynote 3: Modular Scalability of UPS Enables Standardization of the Power Protection of Data Centers

Large mono block UPS in parallel in various tier rating designs is the traditional concept of data center power protection. Recent development of higher power modular design however brings an interesting addition into data center management - the modularity of UPS leads to the possibility of the standardization of power protection. The power systems for various applications, smaller or larger can be built by using the same predesigned, manufactured and tested sub-systems as building blocks. The benefits of the standardization in this changing environment are clear: faster implementation, flexibility and scalability help in controlling the capital spending.

For the UPS designs this means further refining the decentralized paralleling architecture and higher power, thus highly efficient, modular solutions.

The above in turn yields to increased reliability, better risk management and an affordable yet efficient aftersales service, hence overall lower total cost of ownership.

Mr. Urs Waelchli
General Manager, Power Protection, Greater China
